What is Living
Rock?
Living Rock is a
living and ministry facility for Christian men, in all stages of their Faith,
who are currently attending local colleges. Started by Christian men, Living
Rock has been serving Michigan State University and campus ministries for
almost 50 years and has provided a base to enhance and supplement their
ministry. They felt God's leading to start a house where men of all Christian
denominations could grow in faith, challenge and disciple each other, provide
ministry facilities for worship and outreach, and daily re-energize for the
work of campus ministry.
What does the
"Co-op" in Living Rock Christian Men's Co-op mean?
The "co-op"
in our name means that members assume a level of ownership of the house when
they move in. They are responsible for the day to day operation and management
of the house, within the boundaries set by the House Constitution. As House
Director, I oversee adherence to the constitution / vision and
provide for major maintenance / operation (Taxes, Code Requirements, etc.).
Each member is
required to provide time (typically about three hours a week scheduled around
classes, ministry, and jobs) for cooking, cleaning, and serving in an
administrative capacity (President, Treasurer, Devotional Chair, Computer
Chair, etc.) and one 8 hour work day per semester (The first Saturday before
classes begin).
The overall benefit is
that this "cooperation" provides fellowship, allows a better living
environment, and keeps costs down.
Costs are $1,425.00
per semester and $150.00 a month in the Summer which is a cost reduction of at
least 33% over the dorms. In addition there is a one-time non-refundable $25.00
membership fee and a one-time refundable $50.00 security deposit, both required
at the time of moving in.

Living Rock provide for its' members?

benefits and opportunities listed on above and on page two, The Rock provides
the following two services:
